Distributed Opto-Mechanical Sensing Outside Polyimide-Coated Fiber

Abstract

Analysis of forward stimulated Brillouin scattering is performed for a coated optical fiber within a liquid of arbitrary impedance. Distributed opto-mechanical sensing of water and ethanol is demonstrated outside 1.5 km of polyimide-coated fiber.
