Abstract

With specific IQ-modulation for chirped-probe-pulses and IQ-demodulation for Rayleigh-scattered light, the negative RF band is used for increasing the scan-rate of Φ-OTDR for the first time. Distributed acoustic sensing with sub-nano strain-resolution and high scan-rate is experimentally demonstrated in 75km range.
