The Importance of Fiber Coating and Bonding Process in Accurate High Spatial Resolution Strain Measurements

Abstract

Examined under a complex strain field using distributed sensing it is shown that ORMOCER® and monolayer acrylate coatings exhibit as good strain-transfer characteristics as polyimide coating, while a double-layer acrylate jacket averages over high-strain gradients.
