Improved Bias Performance in Resonator Fiber Optic Gyros using a Novel Modulation Method for Error Suppression

Abstract

A signal processing advancement for achieving navigation-grade resonator fiber optic gyros is reported. It simultaneously counters the effects of optical backscatter and modulation imperfections, leading to demonstrated short-term bias stability of 0.02+/−0.007 deg/hr.
