Abstract

The strain coefficient dependence on temperature and the temperature coefficient dependence on strain have been proven for the first time. With these coefficients from SMF-28e and AOC fiber we have demonstrated that a strain accuracy of 6µε and temperature accuracy of 0.3°C with 50cm spatial resolution can be achieved using the distributed Brillouin scattering-based sensor when strain and temperature change simultaneously.
