Abstract
Multiwavelength fiber lasers have progressed rapidly in recent decades. In this paper, a DBR fiber laser for simultaneously lasing at 1060 and 1550 nm wavebands is proposed by use of a novel fiber Bragg grating and a short piece of Er/Yb co-doped active fiber. Following the principle of formation on secondary fiber Bragg grating, a type of passive fiber is preferred as grating carrier to enable high reflectivity in third and second harmonic resonances concurrently, corresponding to the gain spectra of Ytterbium and Erbium ions respectively. The sensing application is demonstrated on simultaneous temperature-strain measurement using the dual-waveband laser.
