FPI Based Force Sensor for Prostate Biopsy Needle Interventions under MRI

Abstract

A custom design Fabry-Pérot based fiber-optic force sensor is fabricated and integrated at the distal tip of a prostate biopsy needle to evaluate needle insertion force and tip positional accuracy for MRI-guided prostate biopsy procedures.
