Abstract

A portable distributed vibration sensor is developed to assess the feasibility of monitoring the mechanical stresses in subsea-cable. It is shown that the sensing unit is capable of mapping dynamic perturbations and impact along a 10km-long subsea power cable with perturbation frequencies as low as 0.1Hz.
