Novel realization of Brillouin optical frequency domain reflectometry (BOFDR) with digital envelope detection

Abstract

We propose a novel design of a commercially realizable BOFDR system with a new perspective on the signal processing that relies on digital envelope detection to increase the spatial resolution and the spectral resolution of Brillouin gain spectra of the spontaneous Brillouin scattering of a sinusoidally, amplitude modulated pump laser.
