Tailoring the Thermo-Optic Coefficient in Silica Optical Fibers

Abstract

Compositional design of the thermo-optic coefficient of optical fiber is discussed. The influences of P2O5, B2O3, SrO, and F are presented. Phosphorus borosilicate compositions appear to be the most attractive for reaching negative values.
