Abstract
We report the measurement of full distribution map of guided spatial modes in a PANDA type two-mode fiber (PANDA-TMF) based on optical time-domain analysis of Brillouin dynamic grating (BDG). Six different spatial modes in three mode groups (LP01, LP11even, and LP11odd) with x & y polarizations are selectively launched by polarization-maintaining mode-selective couplers (PM-MSC’s) to apply eight different pump-probe pairs (LP01x-LP11(e)x, LP01x-LP11(e)y, LP01y-LP11(e)x, LP01y-LP11(e)y, LP01x-LP11(o)x, LP01x-LP11(o)y, LP01y-LP11(o)x, and LP01y-LP11(o)y) for the intermodal BDG operation. The measured BDG spectra are analyzed to obtain the full distribution map of the spatial mode structure along lio m PANDA-TMF with 2.o m spatial resolution.
