Distributed salinity sensing based on Brillouin dynamic grating

Abstract

We demonstrate a distributed salinity sensor with BDG using a polyimide-coated PM-PCF by measuring the birefringence change induced by the coating swelling. The salinity accuracy is ±0.106 mol/L for the coating thickness of 20-μm.
