FBG Interrogator based on Spectral Edge Optical Source

Abstract

We propose and demonstrate a new technique to interrogate FBGs based on EDFA spectral edge optical source. We designed the erbium doped fiber length to provide one intrinsically edge spectrum necessary to interrogate FBGs without any passive filter. The technique was tested using temperature sensors in the spectral band from 1533.4 to 1536.2 nm.
