Monitoring of the Drilling-Induced Temperature Profile in CFRP Plates Using Distributed Optical Fiber Sensing

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Distributed fiber sensing based on optical frequency-domain reflectometry is proposed for monitoring the two-dimensional temperature profile resulting during drilling carbon reinforced fiber polymers. Experimental results demonstrate the unique features and advantages provided by this technology.
