Distributed Acoustic Sensing with 100 km Distance Range Using a Polarization-Diverse Coherent OTDR Interrogator

Abstract

We demonstrate DAS using phase-sensitive OTDR with polarization-diverse coherent detection. It provides 100 km range using standard fiber, 124 km using specialty fiber, sub-nε strain sensitivity and four orders of magnitude dynamic range at shorter distance.
