Suppressing non-local effects due to dynamic strain induced Doppler shifts in high-frequency Brillouin sensing

Abstract

We demonstrate a fundamental limit in Brillouin fiber sensors wherein dynamic strain induced Doppler shifts produce non-local signals throughout the fiber. We present a technique to overcome this barrier, enabling high-bandwidth, low-noise dynamic strain measurements.
