Abstract

Stimulated Brillouin scattering-initiated noise (SBIN) in Brillouin optical time domain analyzers (BOTDA) is investigated in gain and loss BOTDA. The results reveal that the Loss- BOTDA has lower SBIN and is less sensitive to the power variation.
