Abstract

We present a -OTDR sensor that recovers quantitative strain information from the Rayleigh backscattering ϕ amplitude of a sequence of frequency-shifted pulses. This approach allows for higher launch power, enabling low-noise (1.3pε/Hz) dynamic strain sensing.
