Abstract

A novel BOTDR interrogator for long-distance temperature and strain monitoring has been developed and characterized for its measurement performance. It is suited for distributed sensing at distances up to 100 km and allows separating temperature and strain effects based on the simultaneous evaluation of Brillouin power and frequency.
