Abstract

We analyze a new short-cavity layout for Brillouin sensing with a Brillouin ring laser source. The new source exhibits ultra narrow linewidth (10 kHz), good conversion efficiency and low RIN (~- 145 dB/Hz), providing the basis for an improved BOTDA BRL pump-probe source.
