Realization of a strain insensitive Fiber Bragg Grating temperature sensor using femtosecond laser micromachining

Abstract

We present a new intrinsically strain-insensitive Fiber Bragg Grating sensor. Using a femtosecond laser-micromachining process on a custom optical fiber, we demonstrate a 50-times strain sensitivity reduction while maintaining the temperature sensitivity.
