Abstract

We report an optical phase-modulation amplifier for enhancing the sensitivity of photothermal spectroscopic sensors. An amplification factor of nearly 20 is achieved, which enables sub-ppb level carbon dioxide detection with a 0.5-m-long hollow-core fiber.
