Abstract

The curvature sensor, which consists of wrapping the coreless D-shaped optical fiber in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) film is experimentally proposed. High-sensitive curvature measurements are achieved with sensitivities of 2.04 dB/m−1 and 2.66 dB/m−1 in the X+ and X− direction, respectively. Moreover, the proposed sensor demonstrates a low temperature dependence of 0.025 dB/°C.
