Brillouin-based PON monitoring using ERA-BOTDA with differential width pairs of frequency-swept pump pulses

Abstract

We demonstrate a Brillouin-based loss distribution measurement for passive optical networks that uses differential width pairs of frequency-swept pump pulses; it can suppress the crosstalk of large loss events expected in an 8-branched splitter.
