Understanding noise floor behavior in optical correlation-domain reflectometry with acousto-optic modulator

Abstract

We experimentally reveal that the folding effect of a beat spectrum causes a double-peak noise floor in optical correlation-domain reflectometry with an acousto-optic modulator. This noise could be mitigated by employing larger frequency shifts.
