Upgrading Conventional Interferometers to Phase-Measuring Interferometers

Abstract

Interferometry is a well established optical shop tool. Unfortunately, many shops still rely upon manual interferogram interpretation to determine the quality of their efforts. Manual interferogram interpretation is slow, of limited accuracy, and reduces overall productivity. By upgrading in-house conventional interferometers to phase-measuring interferometers, optic shops can rapidly acquire and analyze interferograms with increased measurement accuracy and resolution, and therefore, improve productivity. Furthermore, by upgrading in-house instruments, optician training, experience, and familiarity with specific interferometers is retained.
