Abstract
The application of numerical controls and computers to machine tools is today a common place in general industry, and we do not suggest our work in their application to a curve generator represents any sort of a technological breakthrough. But in the optical industry the trade-off of costs and benefits have seemed to preclude consideration of expensive electronics except in the "corporate giants" end of the industry.
