Abstract

The Center for Optics Manufacturing (COM) has developed an innovative new program designed to effectively transfer state of the art optical technology from COM laboratories to the factory floor. By providing engineering support that promotes rapid implementation and minimizes industry's technology investment risk, the Optics Modernization Program (Optimod) will establish a viable modernized optics industrial base. By redefining technology transfer, the approach reduces implementation risk and projects savings before capital commitment.
