Cleaning of optics polished with colloidal formulations

Abstract

Colloidal silica lapping compounds are used for polishing optics. The particles must maintain a charge balance to remain in suspension. If the supporting electrolyte is disturbed, the particles precipitate as a flocculent or agglomerate.
