Abstract

A new diamond flycutting machine accommodates 100 kg workpieces with surfaces as large as 490 mm × 490 mm. A vertical stage supports the workpiece and provides elevation, orientation, and depth-of-cut control, allowing a fixed-position vertical-axis flycutter. The machine design and results of part-cutting tests are described.
