Shocked-X-Wave Dynamics in Fs Laser Pulse Filamentation

Abstract

We show that axial white-light continuum and off-axis coloured conical emission, which are peculiar features of the Angular Spectrum of filaments in water, derive from the same temporal event: the generation of nonlinear “Shocked-X-waves”.
