Abstract
The author was lucky to be involved in the design and manufacture of the world’s first commercial Stitching Interferometer. We will present the early history of the system, discuss the difficulties encountered and how we solved them, and present interesting facts gathered along the (long and winding) road leading to our present involvement in Stitching Interferometry, including its companion technique, self-calibration.
