Ultrafast laser microfabrication of photonic devices inside glass

Abstract

Focused femtosecond laser pulses can be used for microfabrication inside glass. We review this technique focusing on the fabrication of photonic devices and on the microwelding of glass pieces. We also present the temperature analysis of the processed region based on time-resolved Raman temperature measurement.
