Influence of the abrasive size distribution and process parameters on surface quality of polished fused silica

Abstract

We have polished fused silica samples by varying the abrasives, load and slurry concentration. It appears that polishing performances as well as roughness and surface defects density depend on size distribution of the abrasive particles.
