Parabolic wavefronts produced by plano-convex aspheric lenses

Abstract

We have obtained exact formulas for the refracted wavefronts by using the Huygens' principle; expanding in Taylor's series we obtain parabolic wavefronts. Alternatively, the caustic produced for the refracted rays also conduce to parabolic wavefronts.
