Abstract

Coming's approach to waveguide cable construction, has been based on a unit concept. The unit was originally visualized as a subassembly made up of several waveguide fibers incorporated in an organic matrix. Such units would possess sufficient tensile strength to allow them to be handled on conventional cable-making equipment, and thus, could serve as the basic building blocks in cable construction.
