Design of non-polarizing prism beam splitter

Abstract

In this paper we discuss designing method of the D-M-D three layer for non-polarizing prism beam spilitter at incidence. First we design metallic film: Selecting complex index of metallic film is based on the principle which is must possessing the effect of depolarization and broad spectrum level for R or T. According following formala: where Rp,min is minimum of P-component in reflection. It shows the higher the ratio of k/n is, the higher the Rp,min and the lower the polarizing effection in visible spectrum, we all know Ag has the highest k/n value, better spectrum level in visible region so we choose Ag as non-polarizing metallic film.
