Abstract

Increasingly demanding requirements are being placed on optical interference coatings and in many cases, accurate and reproducible depositions of large numbers of multiple layers are required to fit within the stringent demands of industry. In order to meet some of the more severe requirements, Cametoid Limited has carried out a program to develop inhomogeneous optical films. The objectives of the program were to derive the technical knowledge and capability to produce advanced optical coatings using the method of inhomogeneous films, both by design and refinement and by computer controlled production. This paper presents the technique used and results obtained.
