Abstract

Anti-Reflective (AR) coatings are widely used to reduce unwanted reflections from cathode ray tubes and flat panel displays. Enhanced contrast anti-reflective (ENCORE) coatings produced using one or more absorbing layers in the coating design, are used to improve the image contrast to the viewer. Typical absorbing materials being used in the market today are nitrides of titanium (TiN) and zirconium (ZrN). Problems are encountered using these materials because they result in high absorption levels, and do not give visually neutral transmission.
