Multilayer linear polarizer in a cemented “cube”

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

An all-dielectric multilayer is encapsulated in a “cemented cube.” The index of the glass is 1.62. The goal is a linear polarizer that functions in the spectral region 420 nm to 680 nm. The angle of incidence of an axial ray is 51°, as measured in the glass. The range of angles is ±7°, as measured in the glass. The goal is a coating that manifests an average p transmittance in excess of 95% and an s transmittance of less than 1%.
