Abstract
The design of optical coatings is the commonly accepted term which meaning is quite unambiguous. On the contrary the term reverse engineering is often taken variously. The meaning of this term in the following is the determination of optical parameters and thicknesses of layers of manufactured optical coatings from the spectral performance measurements.
