Optical coatings with enhanced roughness for ultra-hydrophobic, low scatter applications

Abstract

Optical coatings with enhanced roughness offer promising prospects for ultra-hydrophobic transparent surfaces with controlled scatter losses. Our approach links roughness characteristics with both wetting behavior and scatter. Experiments yielded oxide coatings with high contact angle.
