Polarization state modulation for the reflected ray from an anisotropic thin film

Abstract

This study presents a simple method to modulate the polarization state of electromagnetic wave. Due to the enhanced polarization conversion for oblique ray incident on an anisotropic thin film, the polarization state of the reflected ray differs from that of the incident ray. Various polarization states can be easily derived by rotating the substrate.
