High-precision Measurements of Mid-infrared Supermirror Birefringence

Abstract

Reported here are measurements of mid-infrared supermirror birefringence using cavity ring-down spectroscopy. Analysis of the beating observed during cavity decays yielded a Δn/n sensitivity on the order of 108 at a wavelength of 4.5 µm.
