Accelerating self-assembly of colloidal particles at air-water interface by laser-induced heating of upconverting particle

Abstract

Optically induced heating of a trapped upconverting particle at the air-water interface of a sessile water droplet creates fluid flows which accelerate the self-assembly of suspended colloidal particles to form a lattice-like structure.
