Polymer Waveguide and Optical Fiber Coupling Using Whispering Gallery Modes in an Elliptical Micro- Sleeve

Abstract

A novel technique is presented to couple signal from optical fiber to polymer waveguide on a chip used in bio-sensing application. The design is modeled to generate whispering gallery modes [WGM]inside an elliptical micro- sleeve for coupling and bonding the two waveguides in integrated Optics circuits[IOC] . Results show electric field and modal patterns for a [THz] range of frequency .
