Abstract

This paper proposes to use an optical neural network for the real-time classification of normal and aberrant chromosomes in flow cytometry. It has been shown previously [1] that slit scan flow cytometry allows such an analysis for several problems of biomedical importance. Particularly, the rate of dicentric or translocation chromosomes can be used for a measurement of the radiation exposition of a patient in biological dosimetry.
