Abstract

A very narrow band optical filter for use in water vapor DIAL receiver systems has been tested based on the use of fiber Bragg gratings. Such filters can have high reflectivity and bandwidths on the order of 10-pm making them suitable for use in the 940nm water vapor region. Results of using fiber Bragg gratings for both on and off line DIAL wavelengths on the same fiber will be presented. Using these filters could result in a very low mass, compact optical receivers for aircraft and space lidar applications.
