Abstract
Accurate determination of water vapor absorption line strengths in the short wave region are required for computing earth s radiation budget and for climate prediction models. A novel diffusion cell has been built to create steady-state distributions of super-saturated water vapor. It is equipped with a photo-acoustic sensor for making sensitive and precise measurements of water vapor absorption characteristics in both saturated and super-saturated states. Details of the experimental technique and the results of initial measurements of water vapor absorption are presented.
