Abstract

The utility of current satellite measurements for the retrieval of atmospheric temperature and moisture profiles are seriously compromised by their poor spectral resolution. This limitation in the spectral resolution makes the reconstruction of sounding profiles difficult and does not provide a vertical resolution sufficient to meet the requirements of numerical weather prediction.
